R.D. (Bobby) Stephens, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, brother, mentor, and neighbor passed away on February 22, 2022, at the age of 80. He was born February 7, 1942, to A.O. and Mattie Stephens in Erath County. He went on to marry the love of his life, Juda Rasberry, on May 22, 1961. Bobby was a lifelong resident of Erath County, where he lived a full life on his thirdgeneration family farm. He was a man of many interests throughout his years. He enjoyed growing and eating watermelons, collecting antique cars and guns, spending quality time with family and friends, watching his shop-built racecars at 281 Speedway, riding motorcycles, watching his favorite western films and ballgames on TV, being a member and supporter of the Harbin Volunteer Fire Department, storytelling, and song singing. He provided for his family working as a mechanic, a welder, raising cattle, and farming.

R.D. is preceded in death by his parents, A.O. and Mattie Stephens, seven sisters, Nelda Boase, Rudene Lee, Sammie Ham, Ruth Carr, June Luttrell, Joyce Anderson, and Hattie Faye Woods, and two brothers, D.M. (Jack) Stephens and A.O. Jr. (Butch) Stephens.

He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 61 years, Juda Stephens, sister, Fern Flory, three children, Debbie Whalley and husband Steve, Carla Garner and husband Stephen, Dee Stephens and wife Elizabeth, nine grandchildren, Joshua Brent, Nathan, Evan, Josh, Jake, Kate, Shelton, Mattie, and Andie, four great grandchildren, Kloie, Kenzie, Ace, and Allie, and two dogs, Rocky and Noni.

Memorial service for Bobby will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel.
