James Glenn Smith of Dublin, Texas was born March 6, 1944 in Gorman, Texas and died in Fort Worth, Texas October 9, 2021 at the age of 77 years after living a full and satisfied life.

After graduating from high school in Gainesville, Texas, James accepted a football scholarship at SMU and later graduated from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas after serving three years in the U.S. Army, one of which was in Korea.

He attended the University of Houston College of Pharmacy and became a registered pharmacist in 1971.

James retired from the pharmacy and moved to Dublin, caring for his mother and sister until their deaths.

He was an avid horticulturist and supporter of the Dublin Historical Society with his servant’s heart.

James was preceded in death by his father, Joel Glenn Smith in 1968; mother, Lotena Catherine Chandler Smith in 2009; and sister, Catherine Lucille Smith in 2019. He is survived by first cousins, Sandy Sanders of Odessa, Texas, Ed Sanders of DeLeon, Texas, Nancy Alcorn of Abilene, Texas, Janice Courtney of Sartell, Minnesota, and Jim Courtney of Bonham, Texas.

A graveside service will be held March 17, 2022 at Comyn Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ray Seckinger officiating.
