Nancy Reynolds
Nancy Lou Patterson Reynolds, 86, passed away on Oct. 24, 2026 in Comanche, TX after fighting a courageous and faith-filled battle against cancer.
Nancy was born in Douglas, AZ on February 16, 1940, to Clifton Maxwell and Floy Mozelle (Harris) Patterson and was the fifth of seven children.
At six weeks old Nancy moved with her family back to Texas. This proved to be the first of a lifetime of moves. Moving to wherever her dad’s job took them, Nancy and her family moved often during her growing up years living in the following places: Lively, TX; Seymour, TX; Goree, TX; Sweetwater, TX; Munday, TX; Hamlin, TX; and Colorado City, TX.
During high school, Nancy moved seven times. Thankfully, one of these moves was to Munday, TX, where she met the love of her life, Gerald Dayton Reynolds, in 1955. Nancy and her family moved many times after she and Gerald met but, as she said many times, he waited for her. Shortly after Nancy graduated, she and Gerald were married on June 14, 1958. In September of 1960, they welcomed their first son, Gerald Rick Reynolds. Then in July of 1962 they welcomed a second son, Russell Curtis Reynolds.
After Nancy had graduated high school, she worked for a local insurance agent. In 1962, Gerald began working for Lone Star Gas which meant Nancy was again on the move. She and Gerald moved around west Texas when the boys were young, living in Munday, Seymour, Abilene, Wichita Falls and Quanah. Nancy immediately found work in each town because of her training in insurance. In 1986, she and Gerald started moving again; this time to Georgetown, Bryan and Athens. In 1998 they moved one last time to Comanche, TX.
Nancy met and fell in love with Jesus while growing up in the Methodist church. She and Gerald provided a Christian home and example for their boys attending first the Methodist church and later the Baptist church. She was always active in church wherever they were, singing in the choir, teaching and even starting a couple’s class at First Baptist Comanche when there was none.
Next to God, there was nothing bigger than Nancy’s love for her family. Whether it was attending a special event, playing games or simply making a pan of hot rolls, Nancy let her family know they were loved beyond compare. Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Dayton Reynolds; father, Clifton Patterson; mother, Floy Mozelle Harris Patterson; brother, Robert Patterson; sister, Betty Sue Patterson Bellinghausen; sister, Jerry Mozelle Patterson Honeycutt; and son, Dr. Russell Curtis Reynolds.
Nancy will be greatly missed by her remaining family; son, Rick Reynolds and daughter-in-law Michelle Reynolds; daughter-in-law (widow of Russell) Sherry Reynolds, all of Comanche, TX; seven grandchildren, Brandon Reynolds (wife Megan), Lantana, TX; Katy Peterson (husband Ryan), Franklin, TN, Stormy Cooper (husband Clay), Dublin, TX; Sarah Ground, Stephenville, TX; Richard Reynolds (fiancé Kaitlyn Glass), Comanche, TX; Rachael Reynolds, Dublin, TX; Michaela Reynolds (fiancé Justin Reyna), Weatherford, TX; eight greatgrandchildren as well as a large extended family.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 31, 2026 at First Baptist Church, Comanche, TX.
