Oleta Ledbetter (formerly Carlin), a long-time and beloved citizen of Dublin passed away on the morning of June 9, 2021.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on July 11, 2021 at Patrick Street church of Christ.

Oleta was born on the 4th of July 1923 in Comyn, Texas. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dollie Hutchison, and her sister, Peggy Holmes.

She is survived by her heartbroken twin sister Nita Taylor; nephews Richard Taylor of Ashland, Virginia; Roddy Holmes of Runaway Bay, Texas; and Edward Taylor of North Chesterfield, Virginia; several grandnieces; and great grandnieces and grandnephews. Oleta and her sisters grew up with their strong mother during the depression on a hardscrabble little farm.

Oleta’s first husband, J.P. Carlin, died at an early age. Even during her first marriage, Oleta and J.P. lived in the house in Dublin with her mother.

Oleta was dedicated to her mother’s care. Most people know Oleta from her cheery greetings at First National Bank. Oleta worked many years until retirement at the bank in Dublin ultimately attaining the position of Vice President.

Oleta and her second husband, Jack Ledbetter, lived at his home in Cisco until his death, at which time, Oleta moved back to Dublin to be with her mother.

Oleta lived in the house on Liberty Street for over 80 years. Oleta was known for her big heart. She did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels for many years and was always ready to help those in need. Oleta will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She lives on in loving memory.
