Guadalupe “Lupe” Castaneda, 86, born on Aug. 7, 1938, in Del Rio, Texas, to her parents, Luisa Rivera Castaneda and Nicolas Castaneda, passed away Oct. 14, 2024, in Granbury, Texas.
Lupe’s remarkable personality was characterized by her resilience, selfsufficiency, and kindness, inspiring affection in all who knew her. As a committed Catholic, she valued retreats and travels with her faith community to experience sacred sites and unfamiliar churches. Her attachment to her Yorkie, Angel, was profound, and she reveled in spoiling her grandpups, even sharing her food on occasion. Lupe’s love for sweets, notably donuts and cookies, was legendary, and shopping for every occasion brought her joy,especiallywhenpurchasing new shoes.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gilberto and Lucinda Castaneda, granddaughter Laurie Castaneda and her sons Arron Castaneda and Matthew Sargent, grandson Juan Castaneda and his children Jasmine Garcia, Lorrena Ramirez, Alixander Castaneda, Zoey Castaneda, granddaughter and Husband Carolina and Mark Krueger, great grandchild Victoria Byford and grandchild Sharon Towers.
Proceeded in death by her parents Nicolas and Luisa Castaneda, two sisters Maria Ester Flores and Enloja “ Lucky”Facio and her beloved Gabriel Escobar.
Visitation and Rosary was held Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Harrell Funeral Home . Services were held Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, followed by interment at New Dublin Liveoak Cemetery.
