Library to reopen Dec. 9

The Dublin Public Library is anticipated to reopen Saturday, Dec. 9 and will be ready to put its best foot forward after receiving a major renovation.

The library, which has been closed since Saturday, Nov. 18, has received new paint, brand new carpet, two new murals and new furniture and shelving.

Many volunteers were needed to make the project happen as most of the library’s furniture and materials had to be relocated in order for the renovation to take place.

A host of volunteers descended to make the renovation a success including the Women’s Thursday Club, DHS boys athletics, National Honor Society, the library’s regular teen volunteers, the Dublin Historical Society and the city of Dublin.

“I’m very grateful,” Library Director Adina Dunn said. “[There is] no way we could have done this alone.”

The renovation’s funding was made possible by the Tocker Foundation, the Erath County Genealogical Society, City of Dublin and STAR Council.

The library is anticipating a sale of unneeded furniture and other items in the future.

For those excited to see the new library, Barks and Books with Annie’s Therapeutic Companions is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 and library materials that patrons have been holding since the library closed may be returned starting on that day.
