Council talks property requests

The Dublin City Council approved several property requests and declared items at zero value to solicit bids during the regular November meeting which was held Monday, Nov. 6.

City Council members unanimously approved two board of adjustment request for setback variances: one at 304 Independence by Jimmy Johnson and one at 553 Water Oak by Juan Marquez and Humberto Ibarra. The request were accompanied by public hearings in which there were no comments.

The Council also approved a Planning & Zoning recommendation to replat a property at 347 W. Valley (which already had two structures) into two separate properties.

The following items were declared zero value and the City is accepting sealed bids until Nov. 21 at 10 a.m.: Lot No. 1: Steel Wheel Roller Green in Color-No motor, inoperable Lot No. 2: Large Metal Fiberglass Coated Tank Lot No. 3: Late 1970s Chevrolet Cab and Chassis with Metal Flat Bed-Inoperable NO TITLE Lot No. 4: Overhead Fuel Tank with 2 Stands Lot No. 5:3 Point Attachment Street Sweeper Lot No. 6: Metal Tumbler with Hydraulic Motor Council members also voted to abandon the undeveloped alley between Clinton and Travis near the old Memorial stadium and offer portions to the adjoining property owners.

Council members also voted to move $104,920 from special projects for the recent work in replacing downtown sidewalks. Dublin EDC is supporting the project, having previously voted to pay for a portion of the work.

Carmen Andersen spoke at the meeting for Revitalize Dublin and presented the group’s new yard sign.

Council members also approved the 2021-22 audit, an amendment to the ordinance code in regards to solar permit fees so the city is in line with state changes and the 2024 holiday schedule, which will remain the same as 2023.
