The Dublin Public Library is still needing help getting ready for its renovation.

The library needs assistance packing books and moving items as they prepare for a major renovation at the end of October.

The library also received some great news recently as they received their accreditation renewal. This accreditation means that the Dublin Public Library is a fully qualified member of the Texas Library System for another fiscal year from Sept. 1 through Aug. 31, 2024.

The Texas State Library and Archive Commission has been authorized to accredit libraries since 1971, and the Dublin Public Library has been accredited for more than 33 years.

The library’s preliminary population assignments is 3,435, its estimated maintenance of effort for 2023 is $121,662.33 and its local per campita expenditures are $35.

With the accreditation, the library has access to any program the Texas State Library makes possible through federal funding, interlibrary loan, E- rate, funding opportunities through grants and more.

For this month’s book club, readers are invited to read “Beneath a Scarlet Sky” by Mark Sullivan. The book is about the way that war can affect people in various ways. Sullivan shows the tragedy of war, and how it can change the way that a person sees life. The club will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23.

Dublin Public Library is located at 206 W. Blackjack and is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. For information on the programs or schedule above, call (254) 445-4141.
