Dublin Public Library is seeking artists and volunteers as they prepare to undergo a major renovation.
The library is anticipated to be closed for a two week period of time in September to transform the library into an even more user-friendly space. Volunteers are needed to help box up library material and again to help unbox them after the project is complete.
Those wanting to check out materials prior to the renovation are encouraged to do so, and materials can be dropped off in the book drop.
For those needing internet access during the closure, WiFi hotspots may be checked out through the library.
The major portion of the library project is funded through the Tocker Foundation who has awarded an $89,610 grant to the library. The project will include new furniture and shelving for inside the library, and give the library a chance to reorganize its space, switching the teen and children’s area to better accommodate those utilizing the library.
At the same time, STAR Council is also providing the library with a grant for a mural to be done for both the children’s area and the teen area. Currently, the library is seeking artists to do this work and asking them to submit portfolios and artistic renderings of their ideas for the jobs. The teen area will have the theme of ‘Celtic forest’ while the children’s area will showcase a ‘magic fairy forest’.
To submit designs or for more information, please email a.dunn@dublinlibrary.org or come by the Dublin Public Library to speak to Library Director Adina Dunn.
The Erath County Genealogy Society has also gotten into the giving spirit and is donating $2,500 to the library to utilize in the renovation. Most of this money will be utilized for paint and flooring for the interior of the space.
Anyone who would like to donate time or money into the brand new library can call (254) 445-4141 or visit the library at 206 W. Blackjack.
