The Erath County Genealogical Society has pledged $2,500 to assist with the library remodel planned with the $89,000 Transformation Grant from the Tocker Foundation.

This is no small amount for the ECGS but the group feels that it is money well spent and challenges other Dublin businesses and groups to also aid in the improvement of the Dublin Public Library, which provides many valuable services to the community.

“This grant will allow the library to be transformed to address current community needs,” said head librarian Adina Dunn of the grant in previous reporting.

The Tocker funds will allow for the purchase of a lot of new furniture for the entirety of the library including seating for all areas and shelving to create a more open layout when the library is hosting community events.

The grant does not allow for structural improvements so the ECGS voted in their July meeting to provide the $2,500 towards the cost of pant and a new carpet. (Those total cost are estimated to be $15,000.)

The library will be closed for an expected two-week period as improvements are made.

Anyone who would like to donate time or money into the brand new library can call (254) 445-4141 or visit the library at 206 W. Blackjack.
