GranburyTheatreAcademy students will be in the spotlight during “Mary Poppins JR” at the historic Granbury Opera House on July 21-30. The production is part of the Children’s Series at the theater.
According to Music Theatre International, “The jack-ofall trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep.Usingacombination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grownups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that ‘Anything can happen if you let it.’” A Teen Cast will perform on Jul. 21-23 and 28-30, while a Kids Cast will take the stage on Jul. 24-27. Performances follow two-week summer camps at the Opera House.
The musical is led by academy director Matt Beutner assisted by Kendrick Booth and Molly Pruetz. Music direction is by Ashley Green assisted by Thomas Powderly, while Jennie Jermaine and Makenna Clark are leading choreography.
