June 10 events on horizon

A slew of events are on the horizon for Saturday, June 10 and community members are invited to attend them all as the Irish Stampede and Dublin Reunion prepare to roll into town.

This year’s Hearts Home Dublin Area Reunion is set from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 10 at The Station (the building between First National Bank and Dairy Queen on Patrick Street).

The reunion is being sponsored by First National Bank.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a $10 bill for lunch which will include a brisket sandwich, chips, a cookie and a drink.

“It gives people a chance to get a meal and sit and visit with their friends,” local historian and organizer Ben Pate said.

The museums including the Dublin Rodeo Heritage Museum, Ben Hogan Museum and the Dublin Historical Museum, will be also be for the added traffic in town.

The day will also showcase the Dublin Lion’s Club 22nd annual Irish Stampede run in celebration of Dairy Month.

The event will kick off at 7:30 a.m. Saturday featuring a 10K and 5K with a 2K to follow completion of the longer runs.

Cost to register is $25 until June 1 and $30 after that. The race begins on North Park alongside the Dublin Public Library. Race packets can be picked up on Friday night or on Saturday morning starting at 5:30 a.m. prior to the race.

For further race information contact steve@DublinInsuranceAgency.com Proceeds from race entries and sponsorships go toward funding various Lions Club projects including scholarships, the Lions Crippled Childrens’ Camp in Kerrville, and helping local groups and the Library’s summer reading program.

For those unfamiliar with the Lions’ Club, the Dublin service club supports the community with many events includingprovidingannualeye exams for hundreds of young students in need throughout the area, Erath County Meals on Wheels, restoration and maintenance of the Corner Lot in downtown and eyeglasses for underprivileged children.

“Not only does the Irish Stampede bring hundreds of people and potential consumers into Dublin, it supports and promotes our important dairy industry. The Dublin Lions Club sees no greater cause than supporting and promoting our local businesses and dairy industry,” Dublin Lions Club President Daniel Smith said.

Home owners near the race route are encouraged to put their best foot forward by making sure lawns are manicured and look spiffy for those coming into town.

For those who may be hungry, the rescheduled Lilly G’s chili cook-off will be held at 2 p.m. June 10 at Celebration Park next to Dublin Bottling Works.

Entry fees are $25 and there will be a mild and spicy division. There will be a first, second and third place award given in each division and a showmanship award will be presented to the best team enthusiast.

The cook off will benefit Transformation Pathways/ CWJC.

The Dublin Chamber of Commerce will also be partnering with Lucky Vines June 10 from noon to 8 p.m. for a Sip and Shop event.

There will be a wide variety of vendors at the event for participants to shop at while enjoying delicious wines from Lucky Vines.

There will also be food truck vendors hosted by the chamber showcasing their food at the event.

The chamber will also be hosting a Street Dance with a DJ from 8-10 p.m. at Celebration Park in the evening on June 10.
