During the month of April, the club went on a field trip to Tarleton Horticulture Center. We toured each of the facilities and learned about each of the degree programs available. It was a very informative tour.
In May the club had our regular monthly meeting, Wednesday, May 10. Guest speakers, Andrea and Tom, were from Erath County Extension Agency. They told us about the Jr. Master Gardener Program in Bluff Dale.
It is in it’s fourth year and is called “Hatch to Table” program. It teaches from planting to harvesting to cooking and eating what can be grown.
They also raise chickens. This shows the children how to raise from baby chicks to egg producers.
Also, how to show chickens in conjunction with 4th projects. Hopefully to inspire children to join 4th and to be gardeners.
