The annual convention of the Erath County Sacred Harp Singing Association is to assemble in Dublin at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning and to continue in session during the day of Saturday, with a Saturday night session and an all day meeting Sunday. The convention will meet in the Baptist church. The meeting is in fact a called meeting of the state association as well as the annual meeting of the local organization in Erath county and there will be delegates here and prominent singers from all parts of Texas. J.M. Smith advises the Progress that he has letters from parties in Dallas and Fort Worth announcing that two automobile loads will come in from each of those places and that there will also be others coming by rail. The program for Saturday afternoon will include the election of officers from the coming year and the selection of the time and place for holding the next convention.

An estimated $6,116 is expected to be spent on the Shiloh-Edna Hill-Dublin road during the next six months, according to information given at a meeting of the Shiloh-Edna Hill-Dublin Road Association that met at the Edna Hill school last week. This is expected to give the people on this route a good gravel all-weather road.

Over half of this money was raised by donation of the people who use this road and from the businessmen of Dublin, $750 has already been spent on right-of-way and work is now going on moving the fences back. $2,683 was raised in donations and an equal amount is expected to be approved to come out of the bond moneys that was voted a year ago.

Mr. Barbee, head of the committee on donations, reportsthatenoughpromises have already been made to bring this amount up to the $3,000, which would make even more money for this road. The work on the road is to be done by Commissioner LaBaume and he has expressed the opinion that the amount of money raised and the pledges promised would make a good gravel road to the county line.

Mr. Barbee praised the attitude encountered while raising this money. “We thank all for their help,” he said.

A high tech television camera has documented obstructions in a new sewer line on North Post Oak behind the high school, confirming what the Wallace Group, the city’s engineering consultant firm, told the city council several months ago.

The old clay tile sewer line collapsed in September, creating havoc for city crews who scrambled to deal with a broken line which served all three school campuses and much of the northeastern part of town.

The new sewer line was installed by Jerry Crawford of Lampasas on an emergency basis and has been the subject of ongoing city council controversy since that time.
