Dublin Public Library continues to host special events for the community this week.

Meet Annie

On Saturday, April 15 from 11 a.m. to noon, guests to the library can meet Annie, the lead therapy dog of Annie’s Therapeutic Companions.

Annie’s Therapeutic Companions is a nonprofit volunteer organization consisting of Pet Partners registered Animal Therapy teams, based out of Dublin, Texas.

The organization is run by volunteers who love people and animals, who own and train their own animals, and want to serve the public by utilizing them. ATC teams consist of a handler and dog or other animal who have been extensively trained to offer consistent, safe attention to those in the care. All of the registered teams in the organization are also extensively trained to help in crisis situations and have an additional certification from Pet Partners in Animal Assisted Crisis Response.

Genealogy Society The Erath County Genealogical Society is set to meet Saturday, April 15 at 2 p.m. at the library.

All are welcome when Cindy Shipman will speak to the Erath County Genealogical Society about mapping cemetery grave sites. (Think Row A, Burial 3.) Cindy will explain a process developed over multiple years as she and Huckaby ISD students mapped several Erath County cemeteries. Their projects produced books on file at the library such as At Rest in Huckabay Cemetery, At Rest in Exray, At Rest in Hannibal, At Rest in Liberty. The idea is to provide guidance to cemetery visitors to locate a burial site. After discussion at the library, weather permitting, those interested can caravan to the Lowell cemetery (on FM 8 between Lingleville and Desdemona) for a hands on demonstration. For questions, ecgs.dpl@gmail.com Sheryl Rascher (817) 6805691.
