GRANBURY
FAIR. Water lightly stained; 52 degrees; 1.50 feet below pool. Water temperatures are rebounding around the 60 degree mark. Fishing is slow in the areas reporting a Golden Algae bloom based on the evidence of dead or dying fish. To avoid bloom areas fish in the lower end and in the river near Tin Top. White bass is good in the river near Tin Top on road runners and live minnows. Best striped bass action is on the lower ends on soft plastics and live shad. Largemouth bass continue to be caught near major creek entrances and near laydowns in the river. Catfish continue to be good on cut bait on several areas of the lake. Best crappie action continues near deeper structure.
POSSUM KINGDOM
GOOD. Water lightly stained; 50-54 degrees; 5.91 feet below pool. Striper fishing is good and using live shad is still the key to catching them. Some can be caught using white, chartreuse, and pink jigs and deadstick techniques. Sand bass are excellent. Most are being caught using small live shad but some are being caught using white jigs and slabs. Eater size catfish are fair. Most are being caught using cutbait suspended off the bottom or right on bottom. Water clarity is 3-6 feet depending on location.
PROCTOR
SLOW. Water stained; 55 degrees; 9.19 feet below pool. Reports of blue catfish biting slow near ledges in 14-18 feet of water using live and cut bait.
WEATHERFORD
SLOW. Water stained; 58 degrees; 7.70 feet below pool. Crappie are fair to good along the rocks near the crappie house with jigs and minnows. Catfish are slow off rocks near the dam with cut bait and stink bait. White bass are slow on slabs. Bass are slow in deep water using crankbaits and jigs.
WHITNEY
GREAT. Water lightly stained; 58 degrees; 6.17 feet below pool. Crappie are in a pre-spawn seeing both numbers and quality fish. With the warming trend and sunshine these fish should make a push for the bank. Chase crappie in open water, or target bigger females at the mouths of spawning pockets and if you can find brush or timber in these areas they will hold fish as well. Snacky lures FS200 matched with the Eyehole jig 1/16th ounce heads and since I’m casting I down size to the 8’ “ultimate” rod from BNM Poles.
