March 12, 1948
On March 4, 1948 the Woman’s Thursday Club of Dublin celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of its founding with a banquet at the Hotel Long in Stephenville. Members, ex-members and husbands were gathered to enjoy the delicious meal, the interesting program and the delightful fellowship of this festive occasion.
Carrying out the theme of the golden jubilee, the tables were beautifully decorated with daffodils and clusters of yellow acacia blossoms. The glow from yellow candles was reflected on sprays of gilded leaves. Flanking the centerpiece at the speaker’s table in twelve inch numerals of gold were the dates 18981948. Presiding as master of ceremonies, Mrs. F.E. Perry, president of the club, called on Rev. F.K. Suddath for the invocation and then welcomed members and guests. She also read a message of greeting from Mrs. Herschel Nash, president of First District, in which she expressed her appreciation for a club that has been active for 50 years.
