The Dublin Economic Development Corporation is undergoing changes with the reorganization of the board and the hiring of a new executive director.

After its regular board meeting Tuesday, Jan. 24, the board received a resignation from long-time board member and president Monte Thiebaud on Wednesday.

Thiebaud had been on the board as a volunteer for approximately 20 years and resigned for personal reasons.

“I can say I’ve enjoyed my time on the EDC and serving in the community. I wish the EDC well,” he said, to the Citizen.

After a series of interviews seeking a new executive director, the board moved Friday, Jan. 27 to hire Penny Corona to fill a vacancy left by the former EDC executive director Amy Wright (no relationship to previous EDC executive director Karen Wright).

Amy resigned from the position in early November after serving in the role since June 2022.

Corona began the job Wednesday, Feb. 1 and has a career background in education. She was the former Superintendent and teacher at Medina ISD and Yantis ISD. She brings 29 years of experience in education to the table, all in Texas with 10 years in administration.

Also, at the Friday meeting, the board was reorganized with Paul Bradberry as president, Tom Gordan as vice president and Sarah McCann as secretary.

Regular business that was covered in the Wednesday meeting included approving several grants.

A commercial grant was approved for signage at Back Home General Store for Paige Ferguson in the amount of $4,739.98.

Though the board will be reexamining community grants in the future, they approved an event marketing grant in the amount of $762 for a reimbursement for the Rodeo Heritage Museum’s annual honoree banquet. They also approved a $500 event marketing grant for the 5K walk/run Shamrock Shuffle.

A profile story of the new executive director will be featured in an upcoming issue of The Dublin Citizen.
