“You know, the world would be a better place if we all treated our lives like Cooper treats his cookies,” I said one night while watching our extremely entertaining husky named Cooper.
Each and every night we top Cooper’s dry food with a “cookie”, a doggie treat that resembles either a peanut butter cookie or a gingerbread man, but, of course, dog friendly.
And each and every night, Cooper nabs his treat, takes it to his bed and starts eating the treat in a gleeful manner.
He leaves his food until later and can usually be heard munching on it around midnight when he has made sure there is no more human food he might be treated to.
I can’t help but wonder what life would be like if, as humans, we simply gathered a cookie each and every time we are sad, upset, or just in need of a treat, climbed into bed and started munching away.
As Girl Scout Cookie sales are now underway, area troops have figured out that cookies are the true answer to all of life’s serious issues and have turned it into a terrific fundraiser. With all of the buzz on social media about Girl Scout cookies, maybe humans have figured out that cookies are a pretty nice way to end an evening. This year there is a new cookie on the horizon, Raspberry Rallies (only available online) which features raspberry and chocolate.
There are also some recent additions including Adventurefuls (brownie-inspired cookie with caramel creme with a hint of sea salt), Caramel chocolate chips (gluten-free), Lemonades (savory shortbread with a lemon icing) and Toast-Yay! (French toast flavor, dipped in icing).
Of course, you can’t go wrong with the originally including Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Thin Mints and Trefoils.
Many scouts are out in force with the cookies including those from Dublin’s own troop 4168 which will be selling at Walmart and Five Below as well as individual sales. Look for more schedules for cookie sales in upcoming editions of the newspaper.
