The Stephenville Area Elks Lodge No. 2834 will be hosting a Trunk or Treat from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at Celebration Park, 198 E. Elm Street in Dublin.

To enter a “trunk,” cost is $10 per car and proceeds go to benefit the Elks Children’s Camp.

“We really want this to be a great event and fundraiser for the Elk’s Children Camp,” organizer Brittany Hudson Hallock said. “We thought it would be a fun way to host a community event and raise funds for a great cause.”

There will also be a best trunk contest along with several other prizes.

For those unfamiliar with a “Trunk or Treat” vehicles trunks or beds if they are trucks are decorated and then used to hand out candy and treats from.

Everyone is welcome to come, collect candy at the event and show off their costumes, organizers said.

In partnership with the Elk’s Lodge, Grafton Market will be hosting a Halloween Dance Party at Grafton Center starting at 8 p.m. Oct. 29. Admission is $2 per person and all ages are welcome.

Funds raised from the dance will go toward disabled children with cranial disease and a little boy named Maverick whose family needs assistance purchasing a cranial helmet.

The Dublin Citizen will be hosting an online costume contest Friday, Oct. 28 through Monday, Oct. 31. The contest is open to all ages, adults included.

To enter, send a picture of the person in costume to composing@ dublincitizen. com.

Winners will receive $25 in Dublin Dollars and judging is being done by residents of Three Oaks Assisted Living as well as staff members of the Citizen.

Safe Trick-or-Treat hosted by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and local businesses is on tap from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31 in downtown Dublin.

Businesses are encouraged to set up a booth at their door to pass out candy or host a fun kids game.

Other businesses that are not located downtown can set up along Patrick Street and Blackjack Street.

“We would like to remind residents to drive with caution and slow down during our trick-ortreating hours. Let’s keep our children safe and be on the lookout for any risks,” Chamber President Blanca Martineau said.

Three Oaks Assisted Living will also be providing hot dogs and treats at the business during the Safe Trick-or-Treat while supplies last.

They will be served on the Haunted Hallway.

Residential trick-ortreating will also occur on Halloween.

A few Halloween safety tips are included below:

■ Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors.

■ Choose face paint and makeup instead of masks if possible to reduce the risk of obstructing a Child’s vision.

■ Have kids carry flashlights to help them see and be

seen by drivers.

■ Make sure costumes are the correct size to prevent trips and falls.

■ If you are escorting children, please keep an eye on the road for vehicles.

■ Don’t walk on the street.

Stay on sidewalks and cross streets when safe at intersections and crosswalks.
