Never say Diet

“It looks like we’re seeing less of you.”

My Uncle Joe, who is a sucker for all things punny, has been known to say the line above to anyone who is actively losing weight.

I’ve had the occasion to say it to several people recently as it seems many people in the community and among my friends are trying to get healthier.

It’s not easy. I know all too well since Wyndi and I are on different diet paths.

My shirts and pants are fitting looser but I mainly want to take the opportunity to brag on her.

Just as she was committing to Keto as a way to lose wight, I had a scare and decided it was time to do something about my own by writing a list of rules to follow.

Her diet is high fat, no sugar; mine is low fat, low sugar. We both pack in the protein but the different strategies means we have to find recipes that either fit together or can be quickly adapted.

She leads on meals plans, constantly looking for things that work so we don’t get sick of our food selection and blow diets.

She made two separated pans of blueberry muffins so we each could have them last week. She helps me cook so we aren’t constantly tempted to eat out after busy days.

Following diets, like many things in life, can be hectic but it’s easier to follow with someone by your side. I’m glad she’s by mine.
