Dear Editor:

I enjoyed your recent Museum Matters column by Ben Pate about the history of the old Bunyan Community.

My grandparents (E.C. Shillingburg and Myrtle Williams Shillingburg) were raised on farms at Bunyan and attended school there. Later, my grandfather was a rural mail carrier out of Dublin and (for most of his career) carried the mail in and around Bunyan -1 seem to recall that it was then Route 4, Dublin.

My sister and I continue to own the family farm there that my grandparents bought in 1930. I pass the crossroads of the old community on a regular basis and nearly always have a memory of some long-ago story about Bunyan told to me by them. They were so proud to have been from there and talked of it often.

Thanks again for the column. It brought back some wonderful memories of my grandparents, kinfolks and other friends from Bunyan.
