A letter from Dubliner Richard Burney was mistakenly transcribed with the word “defund” written as “defend.”
The Citizen regrets the error. In an effort to correctly reflect his viewpoint, the mistranslated paragraphs from Burney are presented in their corrected form:
“You may have thought that politicians are insane when you heard about the proposal to defund the police. If so, a reason exists why you thought so.
You may have thought more black Americans will be killed after the police are defunded than were killed before the police were defunded.”
“That would be because you have common sense, which is quickly disappearing in America.
“Yes, more white Americans, more Hispanic Americans, more Jewish Americans, more Asian Americans and others will be killed along with Christians after the police are defunded.”
