Bobby Whitehead
Bobby Whitehead, age 85, passed away on June 19, 2026 in Kermit, TX. He was born on September 3, 1940 in Proctor, TX to Coy and Irene (Sims) Whitehead. Bobby married the love of his life Evelyn Yvonne (Eastman) on October 21, 1974 in Carlsbad, NM and they celebrated 48 wonderful years together before her death in 2021.
Bobby was a very generous person with a big heart. He loved to make new friends and had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. His “Smirky Smile” would be the first clue he was pulling a joke on you. Bobby was a lifelong oilfield worker who reputation for hard work and professionalism followed him through his long career.
When not working, Bobby loved to travel the country finding new places for fishing, and camping. He loved visiting Branson, MO. Family was deeply important to Bobby.
He will forever be known as “Pawpa” to his grandkids. The family will also fondly remember his catch phrase of “What are you doing.” They will remember his patient attitude and his kind loving ways.
He was a man of few words but when he spoke it made an impact on those around him.
Those left to love and cherish his memories are his sons: Fred Kemp and wife Grace of Wink, TX, Larry Kemp of Odessa, TX, Bobby Lynn Whitehead and wife Janniffer of Notrees, TX, Billy Whitehead of Andrews, TX; daughter: Ashley Whitehead of Kermit, TX; sisters: Wanda Richmond and husband Bobby of Dublin, TX; Reta Elliott and husband Mike of Clyde, TX. Kay Arnold of Lewisville, TX; grandchildren: Tamara, Brendan, Tevin, Briana, Kristina, Justin, Brittany, and Billy; and 15 greatgrandchildren; He was preceded in death by his wife: Evelyn Whitehead; parents: Coy and Irene Whitehead; brothers: Jerry Whitehead and James Whitehead; sisters: Rena Gray and husband Joe and Faye Simpson and husband Bill; fathers-in-law: Melvin Eastman and Marshall Haynes; mother-in-law: Faye Eastman; and sister-in-law: Carline Hawkins.
Visitation will take place on 2 p.m. - 8 p.m., Sunday, June 21 and 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday, June 22 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Family Services Funeral Chapel, officiated by Jeff Chapman. Burial will follow at Kermit Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Billy Whitehead, Justin Whitehead, Brendan Kemp, Tevin Kemp, Iver Chavez and Ivan Chavez. Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor and condolences may be sent to the family online at www.fs-fp.com.
