Erath County Master Gardener Training Starts March 26
Erath County AgriLife Extension Service has set the start date for the 2026 master gardener training program for March 26. The program targets Erath County residents who love gardening, have a passion for learning new things, and are committed to serving the community by sharing horticultural knowledge with individuals, schools, and community groups within Erath County.
According to Lonnie Jenschke, County Extension Agent-Agriculture & Natural Resources, “The training includes more than 50 hours of in-depth training across many topics. Participants learn about Earth-Kind landscaping, plant pathology, water and soil types, entomology, rainwater harvesting, and growing, vegetables, flowers, shrubs, trees. The sessions are taught by extension specialists, county extension agents, and horticultural professionals who are well versed in AgriLife’s field-proven horticultural practices.”
The first class runs from 9 am to 4 pm, with subsequent classes occurring every Thursday through May. All classes will be held at Erath County Annex III, AgriLife Extension Classroom, 222 E. College, Stephenville. The one-time fee of $175 includes The Texas Master Gardener Handbook, all classroom instruction, volunteer screening, and refreshments.
