Oct. 20, 1922 A brass band seems to be assured for Dublin; as some of the Dublin business men have brought about its organization along constructive lines.

The business men have always given substantial support to local musical organizations and together with the co-operation of the Lions Club splendid results can now be expected.

Oct. 24, 1947 Six new dams and reservoirs are being considered by the U.S. Corps of Army Engineers for the control of floods in the lower watershed of the Brazos River, Col. Henry Hutchins, Jr., division engineer told the directors of the Brazos River Conservation and Reclamation District in Waco October 21. W.P. Hallmark, secretary of the Brazos River Board, was present at this meeting and brings back this hopeful news, as the Proctor damsite on the Leon is one of the six projects considered by the Army.

Oct. 19, 1972 Charles and Sara Harris, owners of The Checkerboard, 112 North Patrick, will be plant manager and supervisor over the new Wolf of Waco in Dublin.

Wolf of Waco is an old established manufacturer of nice hunting clothes, ski wear, jackets, jumpsuits, insulated wear and casual wear. There are three plants in operation; main factory in Waco, East and now Dublin.

Oct. 23, 1997 Even when Nancy Lee Crouch was a little girl living in the “White house” on Patrick Street she knew she wanted to be a teacher.

And her teaching career has brought her many honors and awards, including being named 1997 Erath County Woman of the Year by the Cross Timbers Business and Professional Women’s Club Tuesday night. In her acceptance speech, she said, “When one teacher is recognized, all teachers and students, past and present, are honored.”
