Feb. 15, 1946

The Majestic Theatre was playing several films. Friday’s show was Jessie James starring Tyrone Power, Henry Fonda and Nancy Kelly. Saturday’s matinee and night show was The Chicago Kid. Sunday and Monday played Imitation of Life starring Claudette Colbert and Warren William. Tuesday and Wednesday was a double feature of Home in Indiana and Threes A Crowd. Thursday and Friday was a John Wayne film featuring Robert Montgomery called They Were Expendable.

50 years

Feb. 18, 1971

Higginbotham Bros hired Mrs. Barbara Williams as their Staff Home Economist for their 14 branches. This position was described as a way to “help the company keep abreast of modern times.” Mrs. Williams was tasked with going to schools, clubs and other organizations to show off appliances and would write weekly Home and Family Hints for the newspaper. Mrs. Williams grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Baylor University in Home Economics.

Feb. 18, 1971

The Dublin Citizen featured a photo of the Valentine King and Queen Howard and Agnes Baker at the Dublin Nursing Center. The couple was pictured wearing crowns with big smiles. Howard Baker was 89 and his wife was 75.
