Talk about pep, enthusiasm, good fellowship and all such, Well, we can hardly realize that Dublin has so much of it.

Bright and early Wednesday morning about 25 cars with 60 or more Dublin boosters hit the trail for our nearby sister cities. The first day’s itinerary included Comyn, De Leon, Gorman, Desdemona, Lingleville, Stephenville, Green’s Creek and Harbin. Again at 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning, with about the same number of cars and boosters we paid our respects to the good people of Alexander, Clariette, Hico, Carlton, Hamilton, Lamkin, Gustine, Comanche, Hasse and Proctor.

Aug. 13, 1948

The World Famous Cowboys Band of Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene, Texas, will lead the opening parade of the World’s Championship Rodeo in Dublin on Sept. 1,2, 3 and 4, and supply rodeo-tempo made at ringside at each performance for the rodeo stock toe-tapping antics, it was announced this week by K.W. Ledbetter of Hardin Simmons, business manager of the band.

The Cowboy-clad musicians, who have scraped their high-heeled cowboy boots on the cobblestoned streets of six Old World countries.

50 years ago

Aug. 9, 1973 Dublin Public Schools will comply with Texas law requiring immunizations for all students enrolled in schools announces Vernon Gibson, school superintendent, and requests cooperation of parents in bringing school records up to date.

Polio, diphtheria and tetanus, measles and rubella measles vaccinations will be required.
