In connection with the announcement of the opening of Highway No. 18 between Dublin and DeLeon the present week it should be here said that the Dublin part of this highway has not been completed, though the route was originally planned through this town and adopted by the state highway commission as the official route. Various and sundry obstacles have been encountered by the Dublin committee working on the problem, the chief of which has been the trouble in securing the right of way at any reasonable sum covering a five mile section which it was desired in the interest of a shorter route and economy in construction to change from the old roadway. The Dublin committee has not been idle howeverandweareauthorized to say that all the troubles have now been met and that the committee is going over the road with County Judge Young tomorrow to inspect the route and to make plans for an early construction of the road.

Every Gold Star Mother is asked to mail a postcard to Mrs. Sam Cowan, Dublin, Texas, in order that they may be included as honor guests at a reception to be given on Monday night, May 24 by the American Legion Auxiliary.

“We plan to honor every Gold Star Mother at our reception, and in order that we do not overlook anyone, please send me your name,” said Mrs. Cowan.

The assembling of these names becomes necessary as there has not been any accurate and complete list made of the Gold Star Mothers of this section. These honor guests include all in Dublin and all in the surrounding trade territory. This also includes those who have lived here during both World Wars and those that have only recently moved to this section too.

This honor reception will be held at the Legion Hall on the night of May 24, and will be attended by the honor guests, their husbands, the members of the Legion Auxiliary, the members of the American Legion and many leading men and women of the town.
