An enthusiastic meeting of Dublin businessmen was held at Majestic theatre Monday morning for the announced purpose of discussing the suggestion of setting apart a bargain day for one day in each month at which time special bargains will be announced and advertised by each mercantile concern in Dublin.
D.L. Harris of the Utterback & Harris firm presided at the meeting and the plan was announced and advocated by Mr. Harris and enthusiastically seconded in an address by J.D. McNeil, manager of the Higginbotham store in this city.
Others also expressed themselves and the meeting finally developed into a general booster meeting as well as being very enthusiastic in the adoption of the special sales day proposed. The first sales day was set for third Monday, April 6, and a committee of merchants was appointed to take up details of the matter, plan the campaign of advertising the special bargains in the Progress and to get copy for the announcement of each store in the publicity to be arranged.

A meeting of the Dublin Baseball Club was held at the American Legion Hall on Monday night, March 23. A large crowd attended this meeting and it was voted unanimously to enter a ball team in the Brazos League. Six teams are entering this league, comprised of Strawn, Weatherford, Mineral Wells, Eastland, De Leon and Dublin. Strawn won the finals in this league last year.
The meeting was called to order by Buster McCarty. Officers elected for the Dublin Baseball Club were: Sam Cowan, president; E.G. (Pete) Ables, vice president; and Delbert Shafer, secretary-treasurer. Coach Dillard Adair, local football and basketball coach, was elected manager of the team. Adair made a very forceful talk in which he states he would have the very best team that could be had and that he was really coming out to win.

The Dublin Public Library will celebrate Library Week April 8 to 14 with a book sale on Friday the 13th and remission of fines.
All overdue books will be received without charging fines during that week, according to Miss Frances Clay, librarian. The annual remission of fines usually brings a bargain to a few borrowers who have lost library books on their own shelves, sometimes for months.
The book sale will be held on Friday, April 13 in front of Henderson’s Super Market. Duplicate books from the Library shelves will be offered at bargain rates. Some well worn children’s books will be sold for a penny a piece.

Trustees have given a final okay to the plans for the new high school after digging deep into the reserve fund to pay for fixed seating for the spectator gym and to add a practice gym.
The only big questions which remain involve utility services and actual placement of the buildings on the 74-acre site which will be decided by soil tests.
While the unanimous vote on the gymnasiums represents changes to the original places, board members decided to use reserves.
