The Dublin High basketball team has brought home two victories since the last issue. On last Friday the team went over to Comanche and took the Indians to a 23 to 30 cleaning, and on last Wednesday the team journeyed to De Leon and took on the Bearcats for a 13 to 12 win for Dublin High.
The teams ambition is to add Stephenville to our list of victories, as the season would not be complete without beating Stephenville, so Stephenville had better watch out. The team plays Comanche on the Dublin court today. Everybody turn out for the game.
The faculty offered the prize of a half-holiday to the class making the highest average each quarter. The seniors won it by making a general average of 96.16. They took the holiday last Friday afternoon.
The high school annual has been voted dropped by the student body. This was caused by the staff and the benefits given for the annual not being well supported. Also the business concerns did not subscribe to the proper amount of advertising that it would have taken to put it over.

The Water Works committee of the City Council will be making a survey next week among the houses of the city to get a complete picture of the needs of improvements that should be made by the water department. Each house will be contacted and a small questionnaire filled out.
This committee is also asking for suggestions and opinions from the citizens concerning any phase of their services, which include water and sewer lines. A few of the questions to be asked are: Do you think your water bill too high?
Do you have any leaks? Do you have sufficient water pressure at all times?
Do you want your meter changed?
Type of disposal of sewerage?
Would you favor a weekly garbage and trash collector at a reasonable charge?
J.T. Strong, member of the water works committee of the city council asks that the public cooperate with the man making this survey as this information will help them in giving better service to the people of Dublin.

Jan. 18, 1973 The rural truck account has swelled to $5,014.51 this week according to James Fritts, local Fire chief. Fritts reported that the new truck chassis has arrived and that part of the equipment is being installed. He said that the firemen are waiting on the remainder of the drive funds before ordering all of the needed equipment. The goal of the drive is $6,000 and at this time only slightly under $1,000 is needed to reach their goal and have enough funds to finish the truck and put it into service.

New heating and cooling for the existing high school – a topic which has been discussed and tabled repeatedly for the past several months – was finally approved on a unanimous vote of the Dublin school board Tuesday night.
With a low bid of $245,000, the job was awarded to Hall Tech, Inc. of Mesa, Ariz.
The budget will be amended by $53,000 with the remainder coming from transfer of funds from another budget item.
Superintendent Roy Neff told the board, “We’ve struggled and struggled with this, but I think it needs to be done. I know you don’t want to spend the money but we need to do it, if for no reason other than safety.”
Eric Hahnfeld, who represents the school district’s architectural firm, indicated the job should be completed before the start of school in the fall.
