If you’re fishing for some big payouts and fun at Proctor Lake this weekend, The Tri-Angler Derby is sure to lure you in.

The fishing tournament features competition in catfish, youth (16 and younger) and bow fishing divisions. The event will have 100 percent payback with $1000 added in for first place in the catfish contest and $200 added into both the youth division for catfish and the bow division. (There is no youth division in the bow fishing contest.)

Entry Fees for contestants over 16 is $40. There is no charge to enter the youth division.

Walk-ups will be accepted at the check-in event on Friday.

Elissa Tiscareno, Dublin Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, reported the fishing tournament is the result of coordinated planning between the Chambers of Dublin, Comanche and DeLeon. Plans are being made to have other seasonal tourneys throughout the year with each Chamber taking lead on sponsorship. (Comanche Chamber of Commerce is acting as lead host on the inaugural event.)

“We all have different assets,” said Tiscareno of the three towns, who are sponsoring the events to encourage guests to explore the area. “Why not work together to bring people in from out of town?”

Check-in will be Friday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. in the Ace Hardware parking lot (700 W. Central Ave.) in Comanche followed by the opening of the tournament at 8 p.m. that night.

All fish must be caught at Lake Proctor.

Wade fishing, bank fishing and live or artificial bait are allowed.

Catfish

Fishers in the catfish division will be able to weigh-in with their catches at 3 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday at the east side of Copperas Creek. Anglers in the catfish contest can bring in no more than five fish per day (with flatheads limited to two) and fish brought to weigh-in must be alive. (Dead fish brought to weigh-in will result in the automatic disqualification of the angler.)

Each angler will be allowed no more than three rods, and all fish must be caught by rod and reel.

No more than 4 anglers are allowed per boat.

Bow

Bow fishers will weigh in at 10 a.m. on the east side of Copperas Creek both days with their contest ending Sunday at 10 a.m.
