Mitchell wants to bring communication to district

School board candidate Ryan Mitchell is seeking election because he believes he can bring a different perspective to the board.

“I was not raised in Dublin and can offer another voice from my experiences in a different area. I have children that currently attend the district and would love to see DISD flourish to its full potential,” he said.

If elected to the board he would like to see better overall communication.

“From the administration to the teachers and staff, from the schools to the parents, and from the students to the schools. Being a parent that is highly involved in my children’s schooling, sports, and extracurricular activities, I know that communication can be better,” he said. “I would also like to build the relationship between all District employees and the school board. The school board is a direct representation of what the district is about— both currently and in the future. Administration, teachers, support staff, parents and students have a way to communicate their concerns, hopes and dreams.”

He would also work on teacher and staff retention, focusing on relationships to build trust.

“Trust is needed to impact a life. Every student has the opportunity to have someone who cares walk along side them with education, athletics, band, etc. That isn’t likely when the teacher retention is low,” he said. “I would like to see more parent involvement with their children’s education. It can’t be solely on the school to educate their children. Help the parents understand the importance of helping from home.”

He is proud of several things within Dublin ISD including the resilience of the district staff and students to overcome the obstacles that arise.

“They find solutions to rise above, even if the solution isn’t ideal,” he said.

Mitchell is also extremely proud of the district’s facilities and praised the custodial staff at DISD.

“The schools are always clean, that includes classrooms, cafeterias, restrooms, and gyms. And especially when we host sporting events….our facilities are always clean,” he said.

Professionally, Mitchell is the pastor of Church for the Lost & Found - Dublin First Assembly of God and is the reason he and his family moved to Dublin.

Personally, he is married to Jennifer Mitchell and they have two children, Emma Mitchell, 15, and Eli Mitchell, 11. They love to travel and see new places to experience new things.

Mitchell is a communityminded individual who is active with the Dublin Athletic Booster Club as president, is currently a substitute teacher with DISD, a men’s mentor with Christian Men’s Job Corp in Dublin and over the last two summers, he was the head lifeguard and managed the Dublin City pool.

“I try and serve where and when I can. I want to see the city of Dublin flourish overall,” he said.
