“It feels kind of like an escape,” Paige Williams, co-owner of Dublin’s new nursery, garden center and gift boutique Texas Sage said.

The business officially opened Saturday, April 6 and is located at the corner of Hwy. 6 and Hwy. 377, right by the loop in Dublin.

It is owned by Paige Williams, her husband Scott Williams and Paige’s brother, Wes Allen.

Many may be family with Scott since he has worked in Dublin and the surrounding area in ag construction and ag irrigation. Wes, who is a landscaper formerly in Fredricksburg, designed the concept of the nursery and garden center.

“Many people have told us this feels like it belongs in Fredricksburg,” Paige said.

Originally, the business was born out of a need to do something with a house that was purchased and was entirely too close to the highway, filled with the noise from the traffic.

When the couple realized the issue, they purchased a home in the country and the cute house on Highway 6, next door to WWC Enterprises (Scott’s company) sat empty.

“I’ve always wanted to do a plant nursery,” Paige said. “As empty nesters with an empty house, it just made sense.”

Along with the knowledge and experience her brother Wes possesses about plants, trees and landscaping, the business was born.

What should customers expect when coming to Texas Sage? An oasis of plants, water features, a relaxing place to visit and even some fun with cornhole boards, giant Connect Four for the kids and eventually a food truck on site for the weekends. Metal silos provide open air pavilions on site along with metal signage.

When forming the nursery, the owners made it a priority to focus on bringing in as many Texas native plants as possible and every plant will grow in this zone.

They also focused on filling the gift boutique with local, Texas and made in the U.S. items as much as they could. When wandering from room to room, customers shouldn’t be surprised to find a case filled with Veldhuizen Cheese, San Saba Olive Oil or Gilbert nuts.

The gift boutique features gourmet food products, bath and body lines, local honey, farm fresh eggs and cute garden themed items.

“We’ve focused on Made in Texas items and made that a priority,” Paige said.

Texas Sage has a total of nine staff members including four young ladies from Tarleton State University.

“They are really invested and they have treated it like it’s their own,” she said about her college workers.

While wandering through the nursery and garden center, customers may find mixed pots, veggies and herbs along with a ton of cool Texas native plants. Plants are located inside the greenhouse too, providing a colorful and peaceful atmosphere to plants and humans alike.

“I feel like Dublin has needed something like this,” she said. “People have been complimenting the prices and we’ve worked really on that too.”

The new business was welcomed to the community Saturday, April 13 with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce.

The owners of Texas Sage are cordially inviting out any prom goers looking for a beautiful place to take pre-prom photos.

“We would love to see all the students before they go to prom and they are welcome to come take photos,” Paige said.

The business is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday (closed on Monday). On Sunday, the gift boutique will not open until 1 p.m.

Texas Sage is located at 2554 West SH 6 in Dublin.
