More than 50 neighbors came to Granny Clark’s on Sunday, Jan. 15 to wish Ralph and Peggy DeLaVergne, owners of DeLaVergne Plumbing and Remodeling, well as they retired at the beginning of this year.
The couple started the Dublin plumbing business in 2007 and officially retired as of Dec. 31, 2022.
“Erath County and surrounding areas have been wonderful to work in with a tremendous customer base with both residential and commercial clients,” Peggy said.
Although Ralph has enjoyed helping his Erath customers, Peggy noted the last couple of years were particularly difficult as the cost of materials went skyrocketing in the face of supply issues. While Ralph always strived to save his customers as much as possible by reworking whatever could be salvaged, these increases were still felt by both tradesmen and clients over the past couple of years.
“This has been true with all trades across the board,” Peggy said. “It has been disheartening to pass these costs to our clients.”
Both were delighted to see so many clients, neighbors and friends at the retirement reception. This is especially true of Ralph as Peggy planned it herself and surprised him when they arrived at Granny Clark’s. Peggy thanked Miles and Sara Gilman and the Granny Clark’s crew for going the “extra mile to make the retirement party extra special.”
The couple plans to use their new-found time to enjoy life and friends and family.
“Aging out of the plumbing business will take a lot of getting used to,”Peggy admitted “Both of us have always been in the plumbing and building trade in one way or another. We will miss it but it is time for grandchildren and spending time with our family and friends”
