Runoffs boast 13% voter turn out in Erath

Republican and Democrat Primary Runoffs boasted a fairly high turnout throughout the state and Erath County.

Erath County boasted a 13.5% voter turnout for the runoffs and statewide an estimated 4.35 million voters cast ballots.

On the Republican Party ballot for U.S. Senator, Ken Paxton defeated long-time incumbent John Cornyn. Paxton will face off against Democratic winner James Talarico for this seat in November.

Erath County echoed statewide voting with Paxton receiving 2,202 votes (65.85%) and Cornyn receiving 1,142 votes (34.15%).

For Attorney General, Mayes Middleton won the Republican runoff against Chip Roy.

Erath County echoed these votes and Middleton received 1,845 votes (55.49%) and Roy received 1,480 votes (44.51%).

Middleton will face off against Nathan Johnson on the November ballot.

On the Republican ballot for Railroad Commissioner Bo French narrowly defeated incumbent candidate Jim Wright.

Erath County echoed these votes with French receiving 1,739 votes (54.38%) and Wright receiving 1,459 votes (45.62%).

French will be facing State Rep. Jon Rosenthal in the November race.

Statewide, Thomas Smith received the most votes for Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 3 over Alison Fox.

Erath County echoed the same voting results with Smith receiving 2,001 votes (69.33%) and Fox receiving 885 votes (30.67%).

On the Democratic runoff ballot for Lieutenant Governor, Vikki Goodwin received the most votes against Marcos Isaias Velez.

Erath County echoed this voting with Goodwin receiving 169 votes (84.08%) and Velez receiving 32 votes (15.92%).

Goodwin will face off against Republican Party nominee Dan Patrick for Lieutenant Governor in November.

On the Democratic ticket for Attorney General, Nathan Johnson was elected over Joe Jaworski.

Erath county echoed these sentiments with Johnson receiving 116 votes (57.42%) and Haworski receiving 86 votes (42.57%).
