The Dublin community is being called to help their neighbors in cleaning up a property in disrepair as Revitalize Dublin announced its first community project of working on 354 W. Blackjack.

The clean-up is slated to begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16.

“We are a group of concerned citizens who live and work in the Dublin community. We want to bring back the small-town charm that Dublin once had,” said Lori Beggs who spoke on behalf of the group alongside organizer Rod McNeal during the August City Council meeting.

“We want to work in conjunction with code enforcement and city officials to Revitalize Dublin,” Beggs said. “Our vision to clean up Dublin would benefit our citizens, increase tourism and increase revenue for the city overall.”

“This community clean-up project will focus on the home of an elderly citizen who is in the nursing home and unable to take care of her own home,” Revitalize Dublin organizers wrote on the Facebook event page. “We are here to help and show compassion for those who are unable to do lawn work on their own.”

Revitalize Dublin is asking for anyone who is able to come and help and expressed their appreciation to the city of Dublin which is providing dumpsters during the morning’s events.

Organizers reported the majority of the work will be lawn maintenance including cutting trees, limbs, vines, picking up sticks and mowing.

They also ask volunteers to bring tools to help get the job done.

Supplies needed include: Lawn Trash bags, Work gloves, Rakes, Shovels, Lawnmower, Hedger, 5 gallon buckets for carrying debris, Wheelbarrow, Chainsaw, Any device that can trim trees and bushes, Cases of water or Gatorade, Ice and Ice chest.
