The annual Back-to-School Fair is on the horizon and the Dublin Public Library is seeking your help to make this year’s event extra special.

The fair is set from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 25 at the library.

“The mission of the backto- school fair is to support families in our community, and allow every student to feel dignity and pride on the first day of school,” Library Director Adina Dunn said.

Those wanting to aid in this year’s event are encouraged to donate new or like new backpacks to the library, new or like new makeup bags and personal hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, conditioner and deodorant.

This year’s event will include free backpacks (while supplies last, on a first come, first serve basis) along with hygiene items.

Dublin Lions Club and Dublin Dairy Queen will serve hot dogs and ice cream at the event.

“We have special activities for the children with a foam machine from noon to 1 p.m.,” Dunn said.

Free haircuts will also be offered again this year, tentatively beginning at 8:30 a.m. offered by Shear Heaven and All About You Spa & Salon.

“Last year, our Back-to-School Fair was a huge success, with over 200 children and families participating. We had many sponsors and the community support was, without a doubt, the reason we were able to reach so many children!” Dunn said.

Sponsors for the event so far include: Dublin Woman’s Thursday Club, First Baptist Church of Dublin, Hogg Foundation for Mental Health, Schreiber Foods, Dublin Lions Club, Dublin Dairy Queen, Shear Heaven, All About You Spa & Salon and Mr. P’s Party Rental.

“Your generosity will make a huge difference in the lives of children in our community. If you know of any businesses or organizations that would be interested in attending, sponsoring activities, or providing supplies please share our information with them. Together we can create a fun, successful event to help our children start the school year off on the right foot!” Dunn said.
