A former City of Dublin employee was arrested for the theft of more than $13,000 following an indictment from the Erath County Grand Jury on Oct. 7.

Dublin Police Department Chief Cameron Ray reported that Dalinda Aguilar, a former employee in the City water department, was arrested that afternoon after being indicted for Theft by a Public Servant, a third-degree felony offense.

Ray reported in a press release that the investigation began in early July after Dublin PD was notified that more than $13,000 was missing from deposits into the city’s enterprise accounts. These missing funds were reportedly related to water/sewer service payments.

“During the investigation, it was learned that an employee within the City water department had unlawfully appropriated the missing funds and used the funds for personal use,” Ray stated in the release. Ray added that the employee was immediately terminated and that the funds were recovered by officers of the Dublin PD.

The evidence taken by Dublin PD was presented to the Erath County District Attorney’s office and presented to the grand jury on Oct. 7, whereupon the grand jury issued the indictment for Aguilar.
