A group of excited volunteers are hopping to it as they are planning for Dublin’s second annual Easter Eggstravaganza.
The group is comprised of several volunteers from local nonprofits and businesses, including Dairy Queen and the Dublin Citizen, simply with one goal in mind: provide local Easter fun. The event is tentatively scheduled for Easter weekend and will be held at City Park.
“I really just wanted to see the spirit of Easter brought back to such a deserving little town,” Dairy Queen manager and organizer Shanna Phelps said of last year’s event. “We are excited to bring it back this year.” The hunt will be divided by age but begin all at the same time. Age groups are birth to pre-K, K-3rd grade and 4th through 6th grade group. Each group will have prize eggs for Easter baskets and one lucky group will have a small blizzard for a year as one of the prizes!
The event will include a chance to have photos taken with the Easter Bunny, bounce houses, free popcorn and cotton candy and a live treat auction.
Want to help? There are several ways community members can assist with the event. Currently, the group is seeking volunteers to aid with “hiding” an anticipated 13,000 Easter eggs.
The group is also seeking sponsorship, either financially or by purchasing filled eggs. Please no chocolate inside the eggs. If you do not want to fill the eggs yourself, please donate empty eggs and candy to fill them. Eggs can be dropped at the newspaper office or at Dairy Queen.
