Dublin was relieved of approximately 20 tons of trash during the annual Dublin Clean-up event on Saturday, June 3.
Three garbage trucks and two roll-offs were positioned on North Park next to the library as Public Works crews and volunteers helped unload items brought by Dublin residents for disposal.
City Secretary Melissa Minor reported one rolloff was filled with metal and the other with large, bulky items while the trucks were filled with 18.41 tons of trash (the equivalent of 10-12 rolloffs).
“The trucks made a huge difference,” Minor said, noting the large amount didn’t even fill them.
Volunteers also picked up items from more than 60 homes during Saturday morning which aided in that total.
The 20 volunteers and workers were treated to a brisket lunch at the City Park following the collection.
Minor said the event’s success wouldn’t have been possible without the assistance of the volunteers, Waste Connections, Dublin Chamber of Commerce, Dublin Rotary Club, Dublin Lions club and Public Works employees.
