The Dublin ISD School Board unanimously approved the 2020-21 tax rate during the regular meeting Monday night.

In approving the $1.1973 per $100 valuation tax rate ($1.1973 for M&O and .15763 for I&S), it was reported that, although the rate is lower than the previous rate of $1.23075, it will still effectively raise taxes by about $28.50 on a $100,000 home due to the rise of appraised values in the County.

The board was also informed that DISD had nine confirmed cases of COVID-19 after the weekend with four being students, four being staff and one being a teacher.

DISD superintendent said the district was trying to trace common activity to determine the spread but the only common factor between cases known on Monday is that they went to the carnival in Stephenville.

Several of the cases were football players which resulted in the cancellation of Friday’s away game.

Before this weekend, Dublin ISD had only had one confirmed case. That was contained. Schneider commended the school staff for the precautions being taken to ensure that COVID is not introduced or spread at the school.

“It’s a whole new world and you guys are doing a great job,” he said.

School Board members also unanimously approved the purchase of a 60-passenger route bus with a wheelchair ramp to attend to students with special needs.

Enrollment was announced at 1,088 during the meeting with a reported 128 students (approximately12 to 13 percent) opting for remote instruction.

The board also approved its cyber security plan, threat assessment plan, state and federal grants manual and adjunct faculty agreement with 4-H.
