Daughters of the Confederacy honor veterans

The Major George B. Erath Chapter 2679 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy honored four veterans at the end of April at the historic church in the Stephenville Historical Park.

The Global War on Terror Cross of Military Service was bestowed on Major Wendell Farmer of the United States Marines, for his service, in time of war.

Corporal Larry Collins of Stephenville also received the Vietnam Cross of Military Service Medal for serving in the United States Marines, in time of war Sgt. Terry Jones of the United States Army received the Persian Gulf War National Defense Medal for serving, in time of war.

Aviation Machinist Mate Airmen Cathy Castro of Burleson received the National Defense Medal for serving, in time of war, in the United States Navy.

The 2nd Frontier Camp 1904 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans honored these worthy veterans with a rifle and cannon salute.

The United Daughters of the Confederacy are proud to be able to acknowledge and honor soldiers who have given so much of their life in defense of our Great County, whether they served in land, air, or sea, or served on our home front in time of war.

Every veteran that was honored descended from a worthy Confederate Soldier who served honorably and fought to defend their homeland during the War Between the States.
