Six buses will be parked in front of First National Bank of Dublin on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a blood drive held in honor of Josey Roman of Comanche.

A drive, held at FNB in Aug. 2022 and organized by Dublin Rotary Club in Roman’s honor, drew 120 donors and had to turn away people walking in to donate.

The Rotary Club is once again partnering with Carter Blood Care and arrangements were made for more buses to accommodate the activity.

Although walk-ins are accepted, it is preferred for people to schedule a donation by calling 800366-2834 or texting CBCDonate to 999-777.

Josey is a sweet, fun, outgoing and adventurous little girl from Comanche who is currently having to get a blood transfusion regularly for a disease that doctors are having a hard time even diagnosing, according to her mom, Emily Roman.

At the age of four, Josey started changing having migraines and looking very pale.

“We went to Cooks Children’s Hospital and found out Josey had no blood. Her body had stopped making blood at 4 years of age, a very rare condition. She needed blood immediately,” Emily said.

Josey has undergone four biopsies in hopes of getting some answers as to what disease she may have. “The blood transfusions are what is saving her life right now,” Emily said prior to last year’s blood drive. “Please come out and donate blood in honor of Josey Roman and all the other children in need of blood transfusions.”
