Paul Revere’s midnight ride was to warn those in Lexington that the British Troops were on the way. This painting is of the battle at Lexington Green that marked the beginning of the Revolutionary War. In 1798 Silversmith Paul Revere recollected about his famous ride. He was a member of what they called “the mechanics.” There were about 30 of them who formed a committee for watching the movements of the British soldiers.
