Baseball, softball face off in friendly finale

2024 Dublin Lions and Lady Lions gathered together for a friendly game at the end of their season on Thursday, April 25. The Ladies were ahead until the boys edged them out in the final inning. Dublin Lady Lions head coach Vanessa Longoria reported there are plans to do a baseball-softball game annually moving forward. “The kids had fun playing against each other,” she said. “I loved seeing the competitiveness come out on both teams and I loved seeing the kids have fun and actually smiling out on the field. I think it’s great to take time out and let the kids have fun and remember why they are playing the game.”

Senior Lions round bases for final time

Dublin Lions and their parents walked off the field of their final home game a little dirtier… but in a good way. The Lions took the field for senior night on Tuesday, April 23, escorted by friends and family as they were presented with special gifts by teammates.

GOOD. Water stained; 68 degrees; 8.95 feet below pool. Black bass to 8.48 pounds are excellent on jigs, spinnerbaits and crankbaits in 3-12 feet of water. Most of the bass are in a post spawn transition. Crappie are good in the cove pockets with black and chartreuse jigs, and in brush piles out to 10-12 feet on minnows. Some fish are spawning and a few post spawn. White bass are good on crankbaits and small swimbaits in the lights late in the day, and the bite is slow during the day. Catfish are good on cut or prepared bait around the flats

For the second time in as many seasons, Tarleton State Men’s Golf has had an individual earn a conference postseason honor. The Western Athletic Conference announced Tuesday, April 30 that Texan sophomore Max Bengtsson has been named to the All-WAC Second Team.

Softball seniors take final walk

The Dublin Lady Lions softball girls wrapped up their season with a 15-1 away loss to Eastland Monday, April 22. K’Leigh Kirkland batted one run in for Dublin and Jaylee Black stole two bases.

Baseball boys finishing up season Friday

The Dublin Lions bounced back midway through their Tuesday, April 16 home game against Comanche to close the gap from 7-0 to 7-5 but had trouble getting hits while Comanche grew the score to the final 11-5.

Most bass are in a post spawn transition with the last wave coming next full moon. Crappie are excellent in the cove pocket suspended on black and chartreuse jigs and brush piles on minnows in 10-12 feet with some fish spawning or post spawn. White bass are good on crankbaits and small swimbaits in the lights. Catfish are good on cut or prepared bait around the flats.
