Oct. 31 Two dogs running around in the road on North Patrick were reported. Animal Control was contacted. A reporting person advised that a young male juvenile ripped off her granddaughter’s Halloween mask and called her names. The same subject bullied her before she went to home school.

Monthly sales tax up

Dublin sales tax collections were up a bit in September, at 1.62%, compared to September 2021, according to the state sales tax report released by Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar this month. In 2022, for the month of September Dublin received $55,383.20 compared to $54,471.44 in September 2021.

75 years ago Nov. 21, 1947 The Dublin Rotary Club made a trip to Dallas Saturday in a chartered bus and saw the SMU-Arkansas football game at Ownby Stadium. Rotarians and their wives and friends made the trip.

I’m not running anymore

The enemy was coming and with a mighty army. The people, mostly farmers and their families, saw no recourse but to run. And that they did. As the army of the Philistines approached, the people fled in front of them, running for their lives.

Chamber presents community awards

School Board Member Bob Cervetto presented a Footprint legacy award for Big Eddie Hernandez, a high school student who passed away last year but left a lasting impression on the community. Accepting the award was Elijah Gonzales a family friend of Eddie.

This year due to interest and demand we added a fall Walk Across Texas (WAT) event to complement our annual spring event. We had excellent participation with 12 teams and a little over 100 head of folks participating.

BROWNWOOD SLOW. Water slightly stained; 61-66 degrees; 8.05 feet low. Bass are slow to 3.75 pounds in 5-10 feet of water on jigs and topwaters early in the day, and late in 1-5 feet of water on the flats. Squarebill crankbaits and shaky heads around docks with brush.

Rodeo Museum fundraiser Saturday

The Rodeo Heritage Museum in Dublin is having their major fundraiser this Saturday and the event will have all kinds of rodeo fun including a live and silent auction and raffle. The event will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Dublin High School Cafeteria.

Tarleton inducts 4 to rodeo hall of fame

Tarleton State University’s Rodeo Hall of Fame inducted four new members — Billy Bob Brown, Kody Engle-Granado, Pat Yancey and Rex Bland —at the organization’s annual steak dinner and auction Nov. 4 at the Tarleton Rodeo Arena. Proceeds benefit the rodeo scholarship fund.
