There was a report of gun shots in the area by City Park in the 200 block of Highland. An officer in the area heard a gun fire off in the distance and went to CR 340 where there were several fields outside the city limits where dove were flying.

A young driver was killed in a single vehicle accident over the weekend. Tyson James Wofford, 19, of De Leon was killed in the crash on State Highway 16, 5.4 miles northeast of Comanche around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 17.

Comanche Pow Wow this weekend

Comanche will be hosting its 42nd annual Pow Wow this weekend in Comanche City Park, Sept. 23-24. Pow Wow tickets are $5 per day, per person with kids five and under getting free admission. Most children’s activities are also free.

The recent devastation of many parts of southeastern Texas by Hurricane Harvey has been a stark reminder of the need for Texans to be aware of and prepare for emergencies and disasters, said Dr. Andy Vestal, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service emergency management specialist, College Station.
