Rodeo fundraiser set

Tickets are on sale for the annual Dublin Rodeo Heritage Museum honoree benefit, set for 6 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the Dublin Intermediate School Cafeteria (609 Thomas).

Police Log

Oct. 16 A vehicle hit a Sonic menu and left the scene. An officer located the vehicle and the person who hit the sign for insurance information. A caller on Park/O’ Neil Street advised there was loud music somewhere and he couldn’t watch the Cowboys game because the music was too loud. Oct.

Christmas Tree display opens Nov. 14

Tarleton’s Gordon Center is inviting some friendly Christmas competition in the annual Christmas Tree Extravaganza starting Tuesday, Nov. 14. The annual Christmas Tree Extravaganza showcases trees decorated by businesses in Gordon, Strawn and Mingus.

‘Tell us your spooky story’ winners announced

Dairy Queen showcases a display of Nightmare Before Christmas written by Tim Burton. Dublin Veterinary Clinic was named as the winner in the business division for the library’s Tell us Your Spooky Story contest.

Museum Matters

A. A. (Gus) Hartgrove, was a wealthy man who came to Dublin about 1890. While here, he married Miss Cora McKinnie who taught school in Dublin. He built the Dublin Oil Mill, later to be known as The Peanut Mill, between 1890 and 1907.

2023 Comanche County Pecan Show

The last two years have been devastating for the Central Texas pecan industry. In both 2022 and 2023, we have seen extreme and exceptional drought conditions in Central Texas and Comanche County pecan orchards. In Comanche County we saw income from pecans sales drop from $24,172,000.
