More than 30 marksmen and women competed at the District 1 XFDA fast draw championship shoot hosted by the local Dublin Renegades chapter at Rancho Viejo July 11-13.

“It went beautifully overall and everyone had a great time,” said Jennifer Young (aka Reaper Raine) who organized with her husband Richard (aka The Gentleman). “We got a lot of compliments on the venue and signed up two brand new local shooters!”

In XFDA competition, a revolver is loaded with a casing fitted with a shotgun primer and wax pellet that fires at roughly the same speed as a paintball. The steel target is fitted with sensor to determine impact and timing while a ballistic mesh net is installed behind to ensure the stray pellets stop if they miss the target.

Shooter took turns at the five lanes as sensors marked their speed. At the end of the competition, Tilly Gee topped the women’s division with 6 wins, 4 losses and a fastest time of .370 seconds. Gunbelt topped the mens with 10 wins and no losses.

“We had a total of 36 shooters, 29 men and seven ladies,” said Jennifer. “We had several last minute health cancellations or there would have been over 40.”

There was also a live artist doing paintings of the competitors, an auction and raffle, vendors and a special tribute to veterans and their spouses in the opening ceremony.

“We would just like to thank all of our sponsors and our local community for their support and for welcoming our folks to town,” she added.

Sponsors included Locked and Loaded Training Center, Rancho Viejo, Lily G Productions, Dublin Rodeo Heritage Museum. Wild Hare Cigar Lounge, Wicked Clover Tattoo Studio, Jim Sites of Lazy S Leather, Richard’s Jewelry Repair, Cowbelle, Texas Sage, Veldhuizen Cheese, The Dublin Citizen and XFDA and the Gunbelt Wagoneers.

“We can’t wait until the next one,” Jennifer said after the event. “We have some big plans in the works already for our 2026 season.

Attendees also raised $310 for flood relief and collected five boxes of donations for the victims.
